Alanis “Laney” Broussard is currently an East Coast NBC Page and a Boston University alumna, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in both Public Relations and Journalism. As a passionate storyteller, she has always strived to tell the stories of communities through the medium of broadcast journalism and digital media.

While enrolled in Boston University's College of Communication, Laney worked as a correspondent for the Boston Globe where she published articles about breaking news in the local community, worked as a Massachusetts State House reporter for The Berkshire Eagle newspaper, gained editorial experience reporting on live newscasts for her college news station BUTV10, and created hard news packages in her coursework.

Outside the classroom, Laney gained experience writing for politics, pop culture, and lifestyle features in deadline-demanding environments. Throughout her senior year in college, Laney worked as a digital news freelancer for NBC10Boston, writing breaking news stories and strategizing posts for social platforms. In the summer of 2022, she was an intern for CNN on the Erin Burnett OutFront show, cutting assets to air on primetime TV and assisting in the control room. She interned at Essence Magazine where strategized new digital/social trends and at WGBH as a News Digital Intern. She also was an Employer Branding Intern and Communications Ambassador for Warner Bros. Discovery in the Spring of 2023, where she planned out and helped create content for the company's social and digital platforms.

To her, the call to "speak your soul" has never resonated more deeply as she hopes to continue reporting on stories that showcase humanity from all walks of life.

‘Education is the best weapon': Suffolk DA launches effort to help residents avoid scams

The New England Patriots announced Saturday that cornerback Jack Jones has been placed on injured reserve, meaning he'll miss at least the team's first four games.

Man arrested in stabbing at Roxbury shelter

A man was arrested for allegedly stabbing another person at a shelter for unhoused people in Roxbury on Saturday, Boston police said.

Alexander Aulet, 40, was arrested on a charge of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon after the incident was reported about 9:44 p.m. Saturday night at the Southampton Street Shelter, police said.

The victim was wounded in the shoulder and lower back but is expected to survive, according to Boston police.

A hunter who was reported missing by his family was found overnight in Milton, New Hampshire, after a three-hour search, officials said Sunday.

The 83-year-old hunter from Lebanon, Maine, was reported missing about 10:30 p.m. Saturday, New Hampshire Fish and Game said.

The man had started hunting around 4 p.m. on Saturday and decided to head home when it started to get dark, officials said. But when he took a shortcut back to his truck on Branch Hill Road, he became disoriented and lost.

Massachusetts man killed by fallen tree in southern Vermont

A Massachusetts man is dead after a tree fell on him at a campsite in Somerset, Vermont, early Friday morning

Vermont State Police said they received a call around 1 a.m. Friday from a woman who said her fiancé had been seriously injured while camping along Somerset Road.

State police responded and found Joshua Przybycien, 33, of Palmer, Massachusetts, dead under a fallen tree at the campsite. Investigators learned that the large tree had fallen onto Przybycien and his fiancée as storms passed

Maine lighthouse platform collapse injures nearly a dozen people

Emergency officials were dispatched to the location of the collapse near the Arrowsic coast around 1 p.m. Saturday, according to News Center Maine. Paramedics treated six people on the scene and brought five others to a nearby hospital, Deputy Fire Chief Chris Cummings said.

When the bridge platform collapsed, the 11 people on it fell onto the rocks and mud below.
